When a family faces the loss of a loved one, financial strain should not stand in the way of a dignified farewell. The Burial Assistance Fund provides direct financial support to help cover funeral and cremation costs.
This program reflects our founding commitment: to be present with people in their most difficult moments — without condition and without judgment.

Please answer the following questions to find out if you qualify for the Burial Assistance Fund.
I am an authorized family member or representative of the deceased.
The deceased is a DC resident and proof of residency at time of death is available.
Unfortunately the burial fund is only available for DC residents who can show proof of residency at time of death.
I can confirm the deceased was living with HIV at the time of their death.
(HIV is NOT required to have been determined as the cause of death.)
Thank you for requesting burial assistance support. Currently the only available funding is to support individuals living with HIV at the time of their death.
